ISI Web of knowledge
On the 9th of february, the IMA secretariat
was informed that Thomson Scientific has selected our
web site at http://www.ima-mineralogy.org/ for inclusion in Current Web Contents (http://scientific.thomson.com/products/cwc/faq/),
a selection of scholarly web sites complementing the journal
coverage in Current Contents Connect®, the Web
of Science®, and other ISI Web of KnowledgeSM
applications.
Thomson Scientific developed high selection standards
(http://scientific.thomson.com/free/essays/selectionofmaterial/cwc-criteria/),
specialized to the medium, for Current Web Contents, their
ever-growing collection of high-quality, scholarly web sites.
Thomson Scientific Web Content Editors have visited
the IMA website, reviewed it, developed a standardized descriptive
record, written an abstract, and created a link from ISI
Web of Knowledge to he IMA website site.
Commission
and Working group news
Isabelle Memmi, Chair of the
sub-commission on Cultural
Heritage and Archaeological Materials (CAM-CHAM) has informed
(1st February 2007) on the occurrence of the 37th International
Symposium on Archaeometry, which will be held in Siena, Italy,
12-16 May 2008. The Invitation
letter from Isabella Memmi is joined.

In addition the objectives of
the CAM-CHAM has been precised (16 February 2007): In the framework
of the strategy of IMA-CAM commission, the sub-commission CAM-CHAM
aims to co-ordinate and organize conferences, seminars, workshops
and short-courses devoted to Cultural Heritage and Archaeological
Materials, in particular ceramics and ceramic coating, glass,
metals, pigments, plasters and other building materials. The
scope is to emphasize the role that mineralogy plays and could
play in studying these materials and to encourage interaction
between mineralogist and other people working in the Cultural
Heritage field, archaeologist, physicians, chemists and art historians.

Mineralogical
Branch of the Geological Society of Slovenia
On the 18th of January, the IMA secretariat was contacted by
the Mineralogical Branch of the Slovene Geological Society to
join IMA. The Slovene group contains 20 members. The Slovene
group would be the 39th society/group joining IMA, after formal
acceptance by the IMA council. The IMA secretariat is in contact
with Dr. Meta Dobnikar.

The record of the IMA website is stored within Internat Archives which are located in the Presidio
of San Fransico since 1996, thanks to the decision of the
first IMA webmaster, Marco Pasero.
