Mineralogical Society News
Mineralogical Society of South Africa:
A letter requesting to hold the IMA 2014 meeting in South Africa was received on the 8th of June at the IMA secretariat.

Mineralogist group of Brazil - It appears not possible for the mineralogist group of Brazil belonging to the Brazilian Society of Geology to organize a large meeting as the IMA General Meeting in 2014 mostly for institutional reasons and because the available mineralogist community is not so large.

Mineralogical Society of India - At first the society planned to organize the 2014 general Meeting of IMA at Mysore University, India and to present their proposal during the IMA meetings in Vancouver (July 2008). Informations on the past IMA General Meetings was sent to C. Srikantappa, Secretary of the Mineralogical Society of India and National representative by the IMA Secretariat. Before the Goldschmidt Conference (24 June 2008), it was asked three additional months to prepare a document inviting to hold the 2014 IMA General Meeting in Mysore, India. The IMA Council did not agree to modify the rules to prepare the respective project to be submitted to the IMA delegates during the Business Meeting, and the decision to consider the different proposals during the 2008 business meeting in Vancouver was maintained.

Mineralogical Society of Netherlands - Martyn Drury is the new National Representative.
Institute of Earth Sciences, Utrecht University.
