Back to the latest news page Mineralogical Society News German Mineralogical Society Wolfgang Hofmeister is the new IMA representative of the German Mineralogical Society e-mail of Wolfgang Hofmeister Mineralogical Society of America (MSA) (15/8/2007): George Harlow, National Representative of MSA, informed on the 15th of August that the MSA Council has expressed interest and enthusiasm for hosting the IMA Meeting in 2018, proximal to MSA's Centenary. In addition, "MSA council encourages IMA and the CNMNC to release a list of approved and grandfathered mineral names that can actually be used, i.e., copied, printed, and incorporated into spreadsheets or databases." Russian Mineralogical Society (BMS) (5/7/2007): The President of the Russian Mineralogicam Society has sent the following message: ""Dear colleague! On behalf of the Russian Mineralogical Society (RMS), I invite scientists working world-wide in mineralogy, petrology, mineralogical crystallography, economical geology and geochemistry to nominate papers and monographs for the RMS Award 2007 for outstanding scientific publications and textbooks.The detailed rules of nominations are published at http://www.minsoc.ru/award/call2007 Applications have to be prepared online through the website of the Russian Mineralogical Society (www.minsoc.ru; link: Awards -> Submission of proposals).
